What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Accounting & Financial Reporting position at firstPRO, Inc?
We are partnering with a global leader in insurance and financial services to identify a VP, Accounting & Financial Reporting to join their Life Reinsurance division. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing both technical and non-technical accounting, as well as all aspects of financial reporting across IFRS and Statutory bases.
This position offers strong visibility, reporting directly to the incoming VP of Finance and working closely with senior leadership, including the CFO and global stakeholders. The role also provides the opportunity to influence and enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting frameworks within a complex, multinational organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all reinsurance/technical and non-technical accounting functions (premiums, claims, reserves, investments, pensions, intercompany, etc.)
- Manage the full financial reporting cycle, including quarterly and annual IFRS and Statutory reporting
- Supervise and develop a team of 12 (through 4 direct reports)
- Partner with global teams to ensure alignment with corporate accounting policies and governance standards
- Drive process improvements and strengthen the internal control environment (including SOX/MARSOX frameworks)
- Review complex accounting matters, including new reinsurance treaties, transactions, and investment structures
- Act as a key liaison with internal and external auditors
- Collaborate cross-functionally with actuarial, investment accounting, reinsurance operations, and global finance teams
- Support executive-level reporting, including Board and Audit Committee presentations
What Weโre Looking For
- CPA required
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience (Big 4 or public/private mix strongly preferred)
- Reinsurance experience required (life insurance background strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS (near-must-have) and Statutory accounting
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Executive presence with the ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience in complex environments

Salary : $220,000 - $270,000
