Steel Construction Project Manager Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Steel Construction Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of structural steel construction projects from award through completion. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring strong leadership, technical understanding of steel fabrication and erection, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across design, shop, and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of structural steel construction projects
- Coordinate closely with estimating, accounting, purchasing, detailing, shop fabrication, and field teams
- Serve as the primary point of communication between owners, architects, engineers, contractors, detailers, and erectors
- Conduct site visits and participate in jobsite meetings as required
- Review construction documents, fabrication drawings, and shop drawings for accuracy and coordination
- Oversee project turnover from estimating/sales into project execution
- Support contract review, purchasing coordination, scheduling, and subcontractor management
- Ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail
- Identify and resolve project issues proactively to avoid delays or cost overruns
- Utilize basic knowledge of Tekla/BIM tools for coordination and drawing review
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience required
- Preferred 5 years of structural steel project management experience
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fabrication drawings, and shop drawings
- Experience working with estimators, detailers, fabricators, and field crews
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of Tekla Structures, BIM tools, or similar software preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred

Pay: $100,160.48 - $130,515.84 per year
