Commercial Estimator
Location: Pittsburgh/Homestead, PA (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team in Pittsburgh, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimating professional with strong General Contractor experience who can lead the entire estimating process—from conceptual budgeting and hard bid estimating to bid submission and project turnover.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual budgets, hard bid estimates, competitive proposals, and project schedules.
- Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, specifications, contracts, scope documents, and conceptual drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and project budgeting.
- Lead the complete bid process from project inception through bid submission.
- Develop bid strategies and manage multiple commercial construction estimates simultaneously.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Develop subcontractor bid lists and ensure adequate bid coverage.
- Coordinate and lead pre-bid meetings and project turnover meetings.
- Collaborate with project management, operations, accounting, and other internal teams.
- Support project teams throughout preconstruction and construction phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong experience estimating commercial construction projects for a General Contractor.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts, and construction documents.
- Strong cost analysis, budgeting, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Timberline (Sage) Estimating Software is preferred.
