Structural Steel Project Manager Position Overview
The Project Manager will oversee structural steel projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for coordinating internally with estimating, accounting, purchasing, detailing, and shop operations, as well as externally with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and erectors. The position includes occasional site visits and attendance at jobsite meetings.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing projects through estimating support, sales handoff, project turnover, detailing review, contract review, procurement coordination, scheduling, and subcontract management.
Structural Steel Project Manager Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from award through completion with minimal travel as required
- Coordinate across departments to ensure alignment on budget, schedule, and scope
- Lead communication with project stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
- Review and interpret construction and fabrication drawings
- Maintain organized documentation and proactively address project challenges
- Utilize or maintain familiarity with Tekla/BIM software
Structural Steel Project Manager Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience (required)
- Minimum 5 years of Structural steel project management experience preferred
