As a MEP Project Manager, you are responsible for leading the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection scope on assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role partners closely with project managers, superintendents, estimators, designers, and trade partners to ensure MEP systems are coordinated, high quality, and delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Support development of MEP bid strategies, bid packages, and subcontractor selection
Lead MEP constructability reviews and value engineering efforts
Partner with design teams to manage expectations, schedules, and owner decisions
- Lead and manage MEP scope through bidding, preconstruction, construction, and closeout
Collaborate with project teams and Virtual Construction to optimize coordination and constructability
Maintain accurate MEP schedules and sequencing as projects progress
Conduct jobsite walks to verify installation quality, safety, and schedule adherence
Coordinate owner-furnished equipment requirements and system connections
Lead MEP closeout activities including commissioning, startup, and occupancy documentation
Facilitate MEP subcontractor meetings and communicate clearly with all stakeholders
Support superintendents with short-term scheduling and three-week lookaheads
Lead MEP quality processes using checklists, BIM coordination, and first-install reviews
Coordinate with inspectors and regulatory agencies
Promote a culture of safety, respect, and accountability on the jobsite
Support MEP buyout strategies, allowance management, and subcontractor negotiations
Assist with change order review and negotiation
Identify and proactively manage MEP-related risks
Mentor and support project team members as needed
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, and colleagues
Participate in business development efforts including proposals and interviews
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and conflict-resolution abilities
Collaborative mindset and commitment to team success
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience
5-10 years of construction industry experience with a focus on MEP systems
Experience working with a general contractor, MEP subcontractor, or design firm
- Experience with construction software such as CMiC, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Primavera, or MS Project
LEED accreditation or familiarity preferred
