MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

SUMMARY
Filer Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to coach the boys' basketball team for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring young athletes, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship. This seasonal position involves guiding student-athletes in developing their basketball skills, understanding game strategies, and enhancing their overall physical fitness while contributing to a positive team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and conduct daily basketball practice sessions, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
• Organize and manage the boys' basketball season, including scheduling practices, games, and transportation.
• Develop and implement game strategies to maximize team performance during competitions.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth among players.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team activities, expectations, and player progress.
• Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and games.
• Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
• Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to promote the overall athletic program at Filer Middle School.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or with youth sports programs.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
• Availability for afternoon and evening practices and games, as well as potential weekend events.
• A commitment to promoting a positive and supportive environment for all team members.
• Background check may be required prior to hiring.
