Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects and activities.
- Help students develop social skills and promote positive behavior in the classroom.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Support the use of adaptive technology and resources tailored to individual student needs.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Assist with daily living skills, including personal care, as necessary.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with special education staff and other professionals to support student learning and well-being.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices, IEPs, and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to use educational technology.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet any other state or district requirements for employment.
Salary : $15 - $22
