Role Summary

As a Journeyman Mechanic/Technician, you are responsible for the full-cycle maintenance and repair of the district’s fleet. Working in a fast-paced, professional shop environment, you will diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, manage air brake systems, and utilize advanced electronic diagnostic tools. You are a versatile team player who keeps the shop running smoothly and steps in to support district operations—whether that's through snow removal or ensuring our buses are road-ready.

Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)

• The "Journeyman" Expert: You bring at least 5 years of hands-on experience with both gasoline and diesel engines.
• Technical Mastery: You are proficient with electronic diagnostic equipment and have a working knowledge of air brakes (this is essential for our fleet's safety).
• Heavy-Duty Skillset: You are comfortable using heavy-duty welding equipment and other shop machinery.
• Licensed & Ready: You must be able to obtain a State Vehicle Inspector’s License and meet all requirements to obtain a license to drive a School Bus.
• Physical Resilience: You are in satisfactory physical condition, capable of the heavy lifting and maneuvering required in a commercial vehicle shop.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

• Engine Excellence: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a diverse fleet of gasoline and diesel engines to the highest industry standards.
• Precision Diagnostics: Use state-of-the-art electronic equipment to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Safety Systems: Expertly repair and maintain air brake systems, ensuring every vehicle meets rigorous safety requirements.
• Structural Repair: Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair equipment and ensure the long-term integrity of our fleet.
• All-Season Support: Maintain a clean and safe shop environment and assist with snow removal and other emergency operations as assigned.
• Emergency Versatility: Drive a school bus when necessary, ensuring our routes stay active and our students are never stranded.
