Role Summary
The CFO is responsible for all aspects of the district’s financial strategy, revenue management, and accountability. You will lead the development of multi-year financial forecasts, oversee tax levy development, and serve as the fiscal clearinghouse for all state and federally funded projects. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, you will ensure that district resources are allocated efficiently and in total alignment with our long-range strategic plan.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
- Educationally Elite: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Proven Executive: Minimum of five years of general accounting or financial management experience, with a proven track record in budgeting, auditing, and fiscal reporting.
- Certified Leader: CPA, SFO (Certified School Business Official), or Missouri Superintendent Certification is strongly preferred.
- Regulatory Expert: Deep knowledge of DESE finance regulations, federal cost principles (2 CFR Part 200), and grant compliance.
- Strategic Communicator: Ability to translate complex financial modeling and revenue forecasting for the Board of Education and community stakeholders.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Strategic Financial Planning: Develop a three-to-five-year departmental action plan that aligns directly with district-wide strategic goals.
- Fiscal Stewardship: Manage the annual operating budget, prepare revenue/expenditure projections, and maintain rigorous position control.
- Compliance & Audit Management: Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure all DESE and federal submissions (AFR/ASBR) are flawlessly executed.
- Revenue Strategy: Oversee debt management, bond-related planning, and district investments while monitoring economic conditions impacting our local tax base.
- Federal Funding Oversight: Ensure that all federal program budgets (Title I, IDEA, ESSER, etc.) meet strict fiscal accountability and allowability requirements.
- Collaborative Leadership: Serve as a key resource for employee negotiations and facilitate the Board Advisory Finance Committee.
- Team Development: Supervise and evaluate the finance staff, fostering a culture of high performance, customer service, and absolute transparency.
