Position Overview
The Laundry Aide is responsible for collecting, laundering, and distributing linens and personal items throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in upholding hygiene standards and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies.
Responsibilities
- Collect and sort soiled linens and residents’ personal laundry
- Operate washers and dryers; fold, stack, and count clean items
- Deliver clean laundry to residents and restock linens as needed
- Inspect items for damage or excessive wear; mend and label personal items
- Transport laundry using facility vehicles when required
- Coordinate with staff across departments to meet resident needs
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Housekeeping & Laundry Manager
- Participate in required training sessions (e.g., Infection Control, Fire Safety, Emergency Management)
- Comply with all policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
- No prior experience necessary; training provided
- Valid NYS driver’s license required
- Must possess a valid work permit if under the age of 18
- Availability to work weekends (rotating schedule)
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently
- Capable of physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs) and pushing carts (up to 100 lbs)
- Able to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, staff, and visitors
- Must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Exposure to cleaning agents and potentially infectious materials
