Job Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Toolmaker is responsible for planning, laying out, and performing machining operations and bench work to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, molds, gauges, and related components. This role involves working with complex designs and maintaining close tolerances with high-quality finish standards.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $35.00 per hour (based on experience)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organize work procedures and machining sequences
- Select materials per specifications and lay out components for production
- Perform complex machining operations requiring advanced setups and adaptations
- Modify tooling and equipment beyond standard machine capabilities
- Construct temporary fixtures and specialized tools as needed
- Grind custom tools and create precision measuring devices
- Perform detailed bench work including polishing, fitting, aligning, timing, and calibration
- Design tooling and fixtures for new plastic parts when specifications are unavailable
- Set up and test new or modified tools and dies in production equipment
- Train operators on proper use, care, and procedures
- Ensure high standards of workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical performance
- Complete assigned projects and assist with additional duties as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker or similar role
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- High attention to detail and precision
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
