Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Journeyman Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling components essential for our production processes. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly with high-quality standards, supporting the creation of complex parts and assemblies. Duties
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to develop accurate tooling solutions using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Program CNC machines including milling machines, grinders, and other automated equipment utilizing CAM programming techniques to produce precise tooling components.
- Operate and set up CNC equipment, stamping presses, machinery to manufacture or repair tools with exacting tolerances.
- Fabricate tools and fixtures through welding, fabrication, and machining processes while adhering to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for accuracy.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges to verify dimensions during manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements in fabrication techniques or tooling design for increased efficiency and quality. Qualifications Include
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker or Journeyman Toolmaker with a strong background in manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD; experience with CAM programming is highly desirable.
- Skilled in CNC programming and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines; familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles along with the ability to interpret complex schematics and technical drawings accurately.
- Hands-on experience with welding techniques including MIG/TIG welding; fabrication skills are essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to tooling fabrication, assembly, and maintenance within manufacturing settings.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, dial indicators effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with meticulous attention to detail; capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods while performing machining or inspection tasks; comfortable working with hand tools and heavy machinery.
