Title: CNC Programmer Machinist
Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM
Days: Monday – Friday
Epson Portland Inc is seeking a CNC Programmer Machinist who is excited about both precision machining, supporting critical engineering projects, and production needs. We are open to individual’s who are recent graduates of an accredited machinist training program who is eager to learn and grow. We are also open to a machinist with several years of hands-on experience managing fabrication tasks from quote to delivery, who either has experience with or enthusiasm for learning mold maintenance and repair.
What you will do:
Support
- Support Engineering and Production by machining and modifying parts
- Review drawing packages, select parts that can be made in house within project deadlines, specify and order required materials, and track deliveries.
- Work with the Design Team to optimize part manufacturability
- Provide time estimates, maintain tracking schedules, and keep Engineering informed to maintain project timelines
- Troubleshoot mold issues and propose solutions as your knowledge develops
Machining Work
- Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC equipment
- Use Mastercam to develop G-Code programs
- Interpret blueprints and electronic models to ensure accuracy
- Fabricate in-house parts by selecting work from Engineers’ needed-parts list, specifying and ordering materials, machining parts to spec, and maintaining CNC programs, standardized tool lists, and shop documentation
- operate manual mills and lathes to make parts as necessary
Essential Functions

- Perform programming, set-up, and operation of the multi-axis CNC machinery to produce accurate quality parts and meet deadlines, inspecting work with precision dimensional measurement equipment
- Responsible for the interpretation of blueprints and electronic files to ensure parts are produced according to required tolerances and specifications
- Utilize Mastercam software to develop programs using g-codes for CNC mills
- May be required to provide assistance with other shop projects
- Review drawing packages, specify and order necessary materials and track deliveries.
- Supply accurate time estimates for part packages and provide regular progress updates, including maintenance of tracking schedules.
- Maintain service records of equipment and request maintenance and/or repairs when needed.

Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in CNC programming and machining in an industrial or manufacturing environment required
- Intermediate PC skills are required, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; Mastercam proficiency is required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required
- Proficiency in using all tool room measurement devices
- Advanced math skills are required, including the ability to perform geometry and trigonometry
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical documentation skills, to communicate with all levels of personnel
- Basic knowledge of materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements, and machining techniques
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in an office, manufacturing, cleanroom and/or warehouse environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the company’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
