About the role
This role involves creating detailed shop and fabrication drawings from engineering designs for structural steel projects. You will support fabrication and field installation by producing accurate drawings, material lists, and assembly documentation while collaborating with engineers and shop teams to resolve design and fabrication issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed shop drawings from engineering/design drawings
- Create erection drawings for field assembly
- Develop material cut lists and burn table templates for fabrication
- Detail structural steel components including platforms, stairs, support steel, and platework
- Interpret engineering loads to assist with basic AISC standard connections
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve design and fabrication issues
- Review and check drawings created by other detailers for accuracy
- Manage drawing revisions and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of steel detailing experience in structural steel or fabrication environment
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D emphasis required)
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication, welding, and bolting
- Experience producing shop drawings and fabrication deliverables
- Strong math, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Ability to work onsite full-time
- Strong communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with 3D detailing tools
- Vocational training in drafting or CAD
- Familiarity with AISC standards and steel connection design
- Experience checking or reviewing other detailers’ work
- Background in structural steel fabrication environments
