Senior Cost Accountant – Manufacturing
Reporting to: Plant Controller
Position Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant is a key business partner to Operations and Finance leadership, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting for manufacturing operations. This role drives cost transparency, supports operational decision-making, and strengthens internal controls while ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. and international regulatory and quality standards (FDA, DEA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
- Review, validate, and analyze inventory transactions to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and adherence to internal controls.
- Reconcile inventory accounts including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
- Develop and maintain standard costing models to support new product introductions, process changes, and operational improvements.
- Lead all aspects of Fixed Asset accounting, including asset additions and disposals, depreciation, and approval workflows.
- Prepare month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations; contribute to KPIs and management reporting.
- Partner with the Plant Controller to enhance policies, procedures, and internal controls across inventory and procure-to-pay cycles.
- Provide cost analysis and actionable insights to support production planning, margin improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in annual cost roll activities and update standard costs as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or cost accounting roles.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience working in a standard cost system.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS experience a plus.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results with minimal direction.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams); experience with Infor XA preferred.
- Working knowledge of business intelligence or reporting tools is a plus.
