Location: East Madison (On-Site)

Compensation: $90,000-$120,000

Overview

We’re partnered with a well-established Midwest contractor looking to bring on an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and support project financial performance. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and operations, with a strong focus on job costing, WIP, and overall project profitability.

You’ll work closely with leadership and project teams while also managing and developing a small accounting group.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, cash)
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Own job costing, WIP schedules, and project financial tracking
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
• Oversee billing, collections, and contract compliance
• Partner with operations and project teams on financial performance
• Manage and mentor accounting staff
• Drive process improvements and ERP/system optimization

What They’re Looking For

• 5–7 years of experience in construction accounting and/or public accounting
• Strong exposure to construction clients or environments (WIP, % of completion, job costing required)
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and audits
• Ability to operate in a hands-on, detail-oriented environment
• Prior experience leading or mentoring others
• Comfortable working closely with operations, not just in a siloed accounting role

Nice to Have

• CPA or CMA
• Experience in electrical contractor environments
• Exposure to construction ERPs (Vista, Viewpoint, etc.)
