General Responsibilities

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing and overseeing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure that school facilities and equipment remain safe, functional and efficient. This role requires strong mechanical skills, effective communication, a commitment to safety and the ability to work independently, taking ownership of tasks.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision; exercising independent judgment; providing information and guidance to others; and operating within established processes and district procedures. The Maintenance Lead serves as a key member of the school operations team and supports overall school safety.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain a wide variety of equipment.
- Read, understand and apply blueprints, electrical diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, manuals, and online research resources.
- Operate and maintain large powered maintenance equipment safely.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for maintenance tasks.
- Perform carpentry and metal fabrication work as needed.
- Communicate with departments and outside agencies to assess and meet maintenance needs.
- Follow safety procedures for high- and low-voltage systems.
- Obtain required licenses for pesticide use and asbestos-related maintenance tasks.
- Lift and move heavy boxes, equipment and supplies up to 100 lbs.
- Maintain inventory awareness and communicate supply needs.
- Maintain the upkeep of the district grounds as needed.
- Perform power washing, siding repairs and painting of district buildings as needed.
- Receive the monthly food distributions at the warehouse and maintain the inventory levels.
- Operate district vehicles in a safe and reliable manner.
- Receive and distribute the bi-weekly groceries to the various schools.
- Performs other related duties for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the district.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current driver's license with 5 years of clean driving records.
- Experience with equipment repair and maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Comfort working
SKILLS are required to perform multiple maintenance and facility operations tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining accurate maintenance records and work orders; utilizing common software applications and maintenance tracking systems; operating standard maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery; prioritizing and coordinating multiple maintenance requests; communicating professionally both verbally and in writing; problem-solving and troubleshooting facility issues; coordinating projects and maintenance schedules; and maintaining inventory and supply records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written instructions and technical manuals; and communicate clearly. Specific knowledge-based competencies required include: building maintenance practices; basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems; safe operation of maintenance equipment and tools; workplace safety procedures and regulations; preventative maintenance practices; building systems and grounds maintenance; and applicable district policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 45% walking, and 50% standing.
