General Responsibilities

Under the direction of an ECE Manager, the Education & Family Support Services Coordinator will coordinate and oversee
direct services for the Home-Based Early Head Start program and Center-Based Early Head Start family support work.
Assignment:
This position will be full-time, 255 days per year. The position also requires a criminal history check and fingerprint check through the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) as well as a health exam, TB test, and proof of MMR immunization or exemption prior to starting. Valid certification in CPR and first-aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training, and current food handler's card will also be required, but can be obtained after hire. 

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
  1. Supervise, evaluate and train staff s applicable including providing a variety of job-embedded professional learning experiences such as observations, reflective supervision, reflective practice, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  2. Provide leadership and oversight to ensure compliance with performance standards, regulations, policies and procedures, and contract deliverables as well as documentation, reporting and monitoring program data.
  3. Actively participate in the on-going and continuous quality improvement process by analyzing data, reflecting on current practices, identifying opportunities for growth, supporting staff in implementing goals, assessing impacts, and re-evaluating next steps.
  4. Provide support and guidance to Education and Family Support Specialists using the principles of home visiting and case management including SMART goal setting with families.
  5. Support and model effective high-quality instructional practices for education and family support staff with the implementation of curriculum and assessment and strengthening instructional practices.
  6. Work collaboratively with families, staff, and community partners to meet the needs of individual children and build on their strengths with concern for age, interest, disabilities, special talents, cultural backgrounds and individual styles.
  7. Serve as a substitute home visitor when Education and Family Support Services staff are unable to meet with families, due to absences and/or vacant positions.
  8. Ensure that prenatal women have support and access to community resources.
  9. Provide support and guidance for monthly Community Connects Parent Meetings, family engagement activities, parent/child Playgroups and Policy Council events.
  10. Maintain strong relationships with other educational services within ESD 112, such as ESIT, and participate in community meetings.
  11. Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Other Functions:
  1. Maintain strong professional and personal boundaries.
  2. Demonstrate a commitment to on-going professional learning and growth.
  3. Uphold the Vision, Values, and Commitment to Professionalism of the ECE Department at ESD 112. 
  4. Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree and one year of experience providing administrative support to an educational or social service program.
  2. Experience with program compliance monitoring and program data analysis.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Office products and database software.
  4. Experience with Early Head Start, ECEAP and child care performance standards and regulations. 
  5. Experience working with low-income or at-risk populations.
  6. Experience offering home visits.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge and experiences with the following databases: ChildPlus, ASQ Online, and Galileo.
  2. Knowledge of Parents as Teachers curriculum. 
  3. Knowledge of HOVRS and Motivational Interviewing. 
  4. Bilingual/Bicultural.
 

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:
  1. Travel across Southwest Washington as needed. 
  2. Physical environment may include office setting, childcare, preschool programs or community work sites.
  3. Extended and/or flexible hours as necessary.

Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history check and fingerprint check through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
  2. Tuberculosis test to meet state health requirements.
  3. Health Exam.
  4. Proof of MMR vaccination or exemption.
  5. Valid certification in CPR and first-aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training, and current food handler's card (can be completed after hire date).
