Job Summary
Multiwire 1 Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of wire stranding & bunching equipment. This position always requires the individual to be safety conscious and comply with all environmental, health and safety (E.H.S) procedures. Successful candidates must be able to follow company policies and procedures, be able to communicate and cross train fellow employees and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Responsibilities
- Set-up, monitor, and operate equipment associated with wire drawing machines. This includes loading stems of 12 gauge and threading wire through accumulator, drawbox, annealer and around take-up reels; loading/unloading reels on dual take-up machine; interacting with MMI controls; monitoring and maintaining drawing solution levels and inspecting and maintaining annealing contact bands.
- Maintain and monitor maintenance of die sets.
- Set-up, monitor, and operate equi pment associated with PVC Extrusion Line. This includes operating extrusion line to encase bare copper in plastic sheath, using specified tips and dies, guides and guide holders in extrusion head; servicing screen packs during set up; fill hopper with plastic pellets using a Vaccumm System; loading spools of wire on spindle and threading wire through machine and around take-up reels; filling additives such as colorants in additive feed hopper; interacting with EPIC controls; monitoring and maintaining water tank levels and inspecting and maintaining inkjet systems.
- Adjust controls to regulate speed of wire, travel and of extrusion die to ensure sheath of uniform thickness according to type of material to be extruded.
- Operate machine equipped with wrapping device to wrap paper or tape around wire prior to sheathing.
- Maintain and oversee maintenance of equipment which requires the ability to repair and splice wire.
- Maintain company policies and procedure to ensure the highest quality
- Responsible to report any deviations or quality issues to Manager
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Responsible for communication and assisting in cross-training
- · Log Wire Breaks and production data into specified collection documents.
- Perform QA test (weight checks and anneal test) on all reels to ensure compliancy.
- Perform duties on the Multi-Draw & Rod Mill, PVC Line Extruder, & Multiwire Machines.
Skills
- High school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret routine instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Organized and ability to problem solve in an industrial environment
- Ability to operate material movement and packaging equipment
- Ability to communicate/work with coworkers to achieve common production goals.

Wed, Thurs, Friday - 7PM-7AM
