Appellate Litigation Associate (2–4 Years) – Washington, D.C.


Overview
Direct Counsel is seeking an Appellate Litigation Associate to join a leading law firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice in Washington, D.C. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile appellate matters, including complex regulatory and Administrative Procedure Act (APA) issues.


Responsibilities

  • Draft appellate briefs, motions, and legal memoranda
  • Support appeals in federal courts, including high-stakes matters
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis
  • Assist with case strategy and oral argument preparation
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation matters

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of appellate litigation experience
  • Experience with the Administrative Procedure Act (preferred)
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent academic credentials from a top-tier law school
  • Appellate clerkship experience preferred
  • Admission to the D.C. Bar or eligibility for admission required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $225,000 – $435,000 bonus (based on class year)
