School Nurse
Christ the King Catholic School – South Bend, Indiana
Christ the King Catholic School is seeking a compassionate, organized, and student-centered School Nurse to support the health and well-being of our students and school community. The ideal candidate will have experience managing student health needs, coordinating care plans, conducting screenings, and maintaining accurate health records in a school setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized student health plans and emergency care plans.
- Provide nursing assessment, first aid, and care for students during the school day.
- Manage student medications and maintain compliance with school health policies and state regulations.
- Conduct and coordinate hearing and vision screenings and follow-up communications with families.
- Maintain accurate student health records and documentation.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers to support student health needs.
- Monitor immunization records and health requirements.
- Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Respond to health emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana.
- Previous experience in a school nursing or pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing school health plans.
- Experience conducting hearing and vision screenings.
- Proficiency with Chirp School Management System or similar student information and health record systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications
- School Nurse Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational environment.
