Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for industrial mechanical construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs for piping, equipment, structural supports, insulation, and related mechanical systems
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Develop labor, material, and equipment cost analyses based on project requirements and historical data
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities
- Participate in bid strategy discussions and turnover meetings with operations and project management teams
- Support change order pricing and post-bid clarifications as needed
- Maintain estimating databases and cost histories for future reference
- 5 years of experience estimating industrial mechanical construction projects
- Strong background in piping, process systems, and mechanical equipment installation
- Experience working on refinery, chemical plant, power generation, or similar industrial facilities
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience estimating projects in operating facilities or turnaround environments
- Familiarity with union labor environments in Northern California
- Knowledge of local market pricing and industrial clients in the Bay Area
- Mechanical trade background (pipefitting, welding, or field supervision experience a plus)
