What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician, Pharmacy position at Desert Oasis Healthcare?
Actively works to support the clinical staff (pharmacists) of Medication Management Services to ensure that patients receive accurate, effective and coordinated patient care.
- Professional Duties- Demonstrates ability to evaluate and triage a patient referral or customer question that has been directed to Medication Management Services. Reviews available patient information related to a specific patient encounter, devises course of action as per medical staff approved protocol, and presents to pharmacist for evaluation and final clinical decision.
- - Effectively communicates with patients and customers so that patients and other healthcare providers receive proper information and follow up in a timely fashion.
- - Process requests for prescription refill authorizations in a timely manner. Verifies compliance with refill clinic protocols and procedures .Assists Pharmacists with processing prior authorizations.
- - Accepts new patient care responsibilities that may be assigned to Medication Management and actively assists the rest of the team in determining how best to accomplish these new patient care responsibilities.
- - Collaborates effectively with staff from other departments/offices to facilitate safe, appropriate and timely initiation and continuous monitoring of patient care issues for which we are responsible.
- - Effectively utilizes clinical record systems to procure and record patient information: EZ Cap, NextGen, Dawn, LabCorp online. Continuously updates patient information provided so that patient records are accurate.
- - Processes follow up task created by providers when assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of when to escalate call to provider.
- - Performs other duties as assigned.

- Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent and Registered Pharmacy Technician (licensure). Required to become Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within six months of start date.
- - One year experience in pharmacy or health related field preferred.
- - Knowledge of Pharmacy protocols and standards.
- - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in computer operation.
- - Able to multitask effectively.
- - Able to interact effectively with patients and professionals.
- - No driving required.
- - BLS required for those with patient contact.
- - At the discretion of DOHC/FHC management, this position has the potential to be a full or hybrid telecommuting position.
