River’s Edge Pharmacy started in Rancho Mirage, CA in 2008 to address the need for compassionate care by specialty pharmacies. In 2013, the Company moved to a larger facility in Palm Desert, CA.

The successful execution of River’s Edge Pharmacy’s growth strategy led to the opening of a total of nine infusion locations and two pharmacies in California.

Since the expansion, River’s Edge Pharmacy has become the specialty pharmacy and infusion service provider of choice for patients and physicians seeking exceptional expertise, human kindness, and professional guidance.

Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician, Sterile Compounding is responsible for preparing compounded sterile products and related pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position ensures compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards, maintains sterile compounding environments, and supports pharmacy operations through quality assurance, equipment setup, and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare compounded sterile products using proper aseptic technique.
  • Assist with the setup, cleaning, and maintenance of compounding rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Perform general cleanroom duties, including product introduction and environmental upkeep.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports for pharmaceutical quality assurance testing.
  • Perform pharmacy calculations and verify measurements according to established procedures.
  • Apply proper gowning procedures and adhere to aseptic guidelines in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Provide customer service support, applying basic phone etiquette skills when interacting with patients or external partners.

Plus – may perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education
    • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
    • Preferred: Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Required: Active California Board of Pharmacy Technician License in good standing
    • Preferred: National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)
  • Experience
    • Prior experience compounding sterile medications in a cleanroom environment
    • Technician registration in practicing state
    • Familiarity with sterile compounding regulations and specialty pharmacy practices

Skills & Competencies
  • Technical
    • Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 regulations and compliance requirements
    • Strong knowledge of sterile compounding procedures, IV products, and calculations
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and pharmacy-related software
    • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and logs

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
    • Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality

Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Pharmacy sterile compounding cleanroom
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, and communicate clearly. Occasionally lift or move up to 20 lbs.
  • Equipment Used: Pharmacy compounding equipment, computers, tablets, phone
  • Travel: Not required

PAY RANGE:

$21 - $28 an hour DOE

$1,000.00 sign on bonus

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
