SEC Reporting Manager
Location: Northern New Jersey (Hybrid)
Compensation: $130,000 – $155,000 base salary annual bonus comprehensive benefits

Growing and well-capitalized real estate organization is seeking an experienced SEC Reporting Manager to join its corporate finance and accounting team. This role will be highly visible within the organization and will work closely with executive leadership, FP&A, external auditors, and technical accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely SEC reporting and regulatory compliance.

Position Summary
The SEC Reporting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, supporting technical accounting research, and assisting with internal controls and audit coordination. The ideal candidate will bring strong public company reporting experience, preferably within real estate, REITs, or related industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual SEC filings including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, proxy statements, and other regulatory filings
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and public company reporting requirements
- Draft and review financial statement footnotes, MD&A disclosures, and supporting schedules
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders during quarterly and annual reporting cycles
- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards
- Support SOX compliance initiatives and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting
- Partner closely with FP&A, tax, treasury, and operational accounting teams to gather reporting data and analyze financial results
- Participate in special projects including acquisitions, refinancing transactions, and process improvement initiatives
- Monitor evolving SEC and accounting guidance impacting the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA strongly preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or public company SEC reporting
- Prior experience within real estate, REIT, property management, construction, or related industries preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and financial statement preparation
- Experience with SOX/internal controls environments
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with reporting platforms such as Workiva/Wdesk preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Background
- Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience highly desirable
- Experience supporting publicly traded real estate entities or REIT structures preferred
- Exposure to technical accounting, consolidations, and complex transactions is a plus
