Position Overview
The Tax Manager will oversee the tax planning and compliance functions within the organization. This role is crucial for ensuring that all tax returns are prepared accurately and filed on time, while also providing strategic tax planning advice to minimize liabilities and maximize compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of various tax returns including 1120, 1120-S, 1065, 1040, 1041, and 990.
- Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and standards.
- Conduct research on tax issues and stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and present tax-related reports and analyses to senior management.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or EA certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in tax software, preferably Drake, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
