Mechanical Estimator

A well-established mechanical contracting firm is seeking a HVAC Estimator to support commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical project teams. This role is responsible for preparing accurate estimates for new construction, retrofits, and design-build opportunities while partnering closely with engineering, operations, and sales groups.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate mechanical and HVAC estimates.
• Perform material takeoffs, labor estimates, and cost analyses for piping, equipment, and sheet metal systems.
• Request pricing from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate received proposals for accuracy and scope alignment.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals, cost breakdowns, alternates, and value engineering options.
• Conduct site visits, walkthroughs, and field assessments as needed.
• Develop subcontractor scopes of work and assist in clarifying bid requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales teams to ensure estimates align with project goals.
• Maintain estimating templates, cost databases, and historical pricing information.
• Support awarded projects by assisting with early buyout planning and cost review meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical, HVAC, or construction estimating.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and MEP system components, including sheet metal and piping.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience with basic duct sizing or mechanical design work; AutoCAD exposure is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and estimating or takeoff software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to travel throughout the region as required.
