A leading national mechanical and construction contractor has an immediate opening for a self-motivated Safety Manager to join a high-performing project team in Oregon. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment on complex construction projects. The Safety Manager will coordinate and administer site safety programs in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company safety and occupational health standards.

This position provides safety leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on support to project teams. Responsibilities include training, permitting, incident investigation, emergency response, jobsite inspections, corrective action tracking, job safety analysis, and maintaining all required documentation. The Safety Manager plays a key role in ensuring every team member returns home healthy and safe each day.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support site safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards
  • Conduct site inspections, track corrective actions to closure, and support continuous improvement
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response activities
  • Perform job safety analyses and support hazard identification and mitigation
  • Maintain jobsite-specific safety documentation and records
  • Provide training, permitting support, and safety resources to project teams
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Collaborate closely with field teams, frontline workers, and project leadership to promote a strong safety culture
 Minimum Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with common software tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong tracking, documentation, and follow-up abilities
  • Working knowledge of DOE and/or regulatory requirements related to construction safety and industrial hygiene
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 (Construction) and OSHA 1910 (General Industry)
  • Ability to apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or mitigate hazards
  • Experience preparing and communicating safety and industrial hygiene information to diverse audiences
Education and Experience (must meet one of the following)

A degree (Associate, Bachelor, or Master) in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field such as Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Protection, or Fire Protection, plus at least 6 months of experience in safety, health, environmental, or emergency response; OR

Professional certification such as OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP, plus at least 6 months of relevant experience; OR

Five years of construction experience where safety, health, or environmental protection made up 100 percent of daily job duties

Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Course (Construction)
  • OSHA 501 Trainer Course (General Industry)
 Desired / Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CIH
  • Experience working in a Category II Nuclear Operating Facility
  • Knowledge of Integrated Safety Management, Integrated Work Management, and DOE safety procedures
  • Experience interpreting federal codes and standards related to construction safety, chemical safety, exposure assessment, and industrial hygiene
  • Experience with industrial hygiene sampling, analysis, and control implementation
  • Experience implementing respiratory protection programs

This role requires building strong working relationships with frontline workers, field supervision, and project management. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, demonstrates sound judgment, understands risk and liability, and brings a proactive, solutions-focused approach to safety management.
