Position Overview
The Director of Operations will lead and optimize all operational activities across manufacturing, supply chain, and service functions to drive efficiency, quality, safety, and profitability. This strategic leader will develop and execute operational plans, standardize processes, and build high-performing teams to support growth and deliver exceptional customer value. Candidates with progressive experience as an Operations Manager or Plant Manager are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the operational strategy aligned with company goals, translating vision into measurable annual and quarterly objectives.
- Oversee day-to-day operations across manufacturing, production, maintenance, logistics, and facilities to ensure safe, on-time, and cost-effective delivery of products and services.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce waste, improve cycle times, increase throughput, and elevate quality standards.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability for operational departments; identify opportunities to improve margins and reduce operating costs.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and scorecards to track productivity, quality, safety, inventory, and customer service metrics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, health & safety, and quality requirements; drive a culture of safety and regulatory excellence.
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing operations leadership team; foster talent development and succession planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales, procurement, and finance to support new product introductions, capacity planning, and customer commitments.
- Manage supplier and vendor relationships to secure reliable supply, favorable terms, and continuous improvement from partners.
- Champion technology and automation adoption (ERP, MES, IoT) to enhance operational visibility, decision-making, and scalability.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10 years of progressive operations experience with demonstrated leadership in roles such as Director of Operations, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager.
- Proven track record in manufacturing or industrial operations, including production planning, maintenance, logistics, and quality systems.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L responsibility.
- Hands-on experience leading Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement programs; certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Black/Green Belt) a plus.
- Experience implementing and using ERP/MES systems and data-driven decision-making tools.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change, scale operations, and drive measurable performance improvements.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
