Civil Drafter

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Civil Drafter to produce precise engineering drawings and construction documents for transportation and civil infrastructure projects. The Civil Drafter will support engineers and designers by translating design concepts into accurate CAD/Civil 3D plans, maintaining drawing standards, and assisting with design coordination to ensure constructible, code-compliant deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain civil engineering drawings, plans, profiles, cross-sections, and details for transportation and site development projects using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Translate engineering sketches, survey data, and design calculations into accurate construction-ready drawings and plan sets.
• Create and manage Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, corridors, pipe networks, grading, and sheet production with consistent layer and annotation standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and project managers to resolve design issues, incorporate revisions, and maintain document control.
• Produce quantity takeoffs, basic plan notes, and assembly details to support cost estimating and construction bidding processes.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, local standards, and applicable codes; perform QA/QC checks before issuing for review.
• Maintain project drawing files, templates, and CAD standards; organize and archive deliverables and revision history.
• Assist with preparation of permit drawings, construction details, and as-built updates; respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) regarding drafting content.
• Support multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and adapt drawings to changing scope or design direction.
• Provide estimating support and visualization-ready plans for stakeholder presentations as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
• 2 years of experience producing civil/transportation engineering drawings; experience with roadway, grading, drainage, and utility design preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D with demonstrated ability to create alignments, corridors, surfaces, and pipe networks.
• Working knowledge of transportation and civil design principles, terminology, and construction methods.
• Familiarity with local permitting processes, construction documentation, and standard specification requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent drafting standards, and proven QA/QC practice for drawings and deliverables.
