Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a Math Teacher (One-Year, 2026-2027, 0.5 FTE) to join our team starting the 2026-2027 school year. This individual will help create a welcoming, friendly, and efficient environment within the department. In this role, they will work with the principal and staff to support the overall smooth functioning of the academic program each school day.
The successful candidate will maintain a positive and helpful demeanor while ensuring students are supported and monitored during instructional time.
Primary Responsibilities
- Instructing a range of Mathematics coursework, from introductory high school math through advanced levels including calculus and statistics.
- Planning, instructing, and assessing a proficiency-based math curriculum for high school students.
- Differentiating instruction for learners with differing abilities to ensure all students are supported.
- Effectively communicating observations and suggestions for continuous systems and school improvement.
- Carrying out school policies and procedures with high levels of confidentiality.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- A Vermont Professional Educator’s license with an endorsement for secondary math.
- The ability to establish friendly and professional rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency with educational technology; experience or licensure in computer science/programming is highly desirable.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a flexible, creative approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrated poise and patience when dealing with the public or difficult situations.
- The ability to work independently as a self-starter and prioritize tasks under pressure.
