Assistant Theater Manager Needed
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a part-time Assistant Theater Manager to join our team starting FY27. This multifaceted role is responsible for assisting the Theater Coordinator and Media Integrationist with events occurring after hours and weekends in the CVU Theater and event spaces. We are looking for a dedicated professional to ensure a professional, safe, and high-quality environment for our students and staff by providing technical expertise and mentoring student staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and operate audio-visual equipment for school performances, assemblies, and events, ensuring seamless transitions and high-quality presentations.
- Provide technical support for lighting, sound, and video systems during live performances, presentations, and broadcasts.
- Assist in the coordination of daily operations, including scheduling, ensuring facility readiness for rehearsals, and managing the control booth.
- Collaborate with faculty and student groups to plan, organize, and execute theater productions, concerts, and award ceremonies.
- Supervise and mentor student volunteers and AV team members, fostering an environment of collaboration and skill development in production.
- Manage inventory of equipment and materials, ensuring all tools are properly maintained, updated, and ready for use.
- Support and strictly enforce safety protocols for stage operations and equipment use.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- Proven knowledge of digital sound and lighting systems, as well as experience with Crestron smart systems.
- Ability to coordinate logistics and timelines to ensure the successful execution of complex school events.
- Ability to work cooperatively and interact respectfully with students, staff, and outside organizations.
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 40 lbs) and the capacity to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support live performances.

This is a part-time stipend position based on qualifications and experience. The position is a "category I activity" on our co-curricular contract and the compensation is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. More information about CVSD can be found on our district website.
