Long-Term Substitute Wellness Teacher Needed
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a 1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute Wellness Teacher to join our school team from the start of the FY27 school year through February 2027. This individual will join our community of learners to help create a welcoming, friendly, and efficient environment. In this role, they will work collaboratively on a team of teachers to support the overall smooth functioning of the Wellness program each school day.
The successful candidate will maintain a positive, welcoming, and helpful demeanor while ensuring students are supported and monitored during instructional time.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct instruction of Personal Health, Project Adventure, and Core Connections to 9th-grade students.
- Planning, instructing, and assessing a standards-based wellness curriculum.
- Utilizing Differentiated Instruction to meet the needs of learners with differing abilities.
- Effectively communicating observations and suggestions for continuous systems and school improvement as a member of the team.
- Carrying out school policies and procedures with high levels of confidentiality.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- Vermont Certification (or pending certification) in Physical Education and a Health Endorsement (Required).
- The ability to establish friendly and professional rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency with standards-based instruction, assessment, and reporting.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a flexible, creative approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrated poise and patience when dealing with the public or difficult situations.
- The ability to work independently as a self-starter and prioritize tasks under pressure.
