CV Resources is seeking a Project Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing company in Nashville, Tennessee. The Project Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing all financial activities related to construction and project-based operations. This position ensures accurate AIA billing, cost tracking, lien management, and Work in Process (WIP) reporting while supporting project teams and senior leadership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both people and processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle project and construction accounting, including AIA billings, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and month-end close activities.
- Oversee supplier and vendor lien waivers, ensuring timely collection, accuracy, and compliance.
- Partner with project managers to monitor project financial performance, budgets, cost-to-complete estimates, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare and analyze Work in Process (WIP) reports and support senior management with financial insights.
- Lead billing, collections, and cash application activities related to project accounting.
- Utilize and/or learn Viewpoint Spectrum or similar construction ERP systems to manage project financial data.
- Supervise project accounting staff, providing training, guidance, performance feedback, and ongoing mentorship.
- Maintain strong internal controls, documentation standards, and compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
- Serve as a proactive problem-solver, identifying issues early and developing actionable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, finance, and legal.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of project or construction accounting experience, including AIA billing, collections, WIP management, lien waivers, and related processes.
- Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting principles.
- Experience in the property services or construction industry preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-state tax considerations, compliance, or contract accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or high aptitude for learning new construction ERP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting highly preferred; degrees in related fields considered with strong relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated readiness for middle management responsibilities, including supervising others while maintaining hands-on daily accounting duties.
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and an analytical mindset.
- Proven self-starter who takes initiative, asks questions, and finds solutions.
