This frees you to focus on work that truly transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking abilities, concentration, and feedback literacy, then providing one-on-one coaching to maintain motivation and achieve learning targets. You'll spend half your time leading group sessions. The other half, you'll sit down with individual students, using Coachbot analytics to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.

Students complete a mastery-based assessment following each workshop. Over 90% should rate your performance highly. 100% should demonstrate progress in their learning apps. These aren't stretch goals—they're baseline expectations. Setting high standards is how you communicate your belief in their potential. Through this work, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops teenagers genuinely want to attend, mastering advanced learning technology, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for high school students covering subjects like public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by measuring understanding through structured Test2Pass assessments
• Conducting daily individual coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot data to engage with students personally, diagnose obstacles in their app-based learning, and help them overcome challenges
• Co-creating personalized motivation plans with students, including reward systems and incentives that encourage autonomous advancement in academic applications
• Preparing by reviewing curriculum and lesson frameworks before sessions, then adjusting your approach based on real-time student engagement
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering academic instruction. Software manages mathematics, literacy, and all other subject areas.
• Overseeing school operations or supervising staff. No budget responsibilities, no recruitment, no administrative meetings—your attention stays entirely on your student group.
• Enforcing discipline through conventional authority structures. No detention assignments, no suspensions, no authoritarian mandates. You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized learning space.
  
  

Life Skills Coach Key Responsibilities

Develop a cohort of high school students who are passionate about school, achieve 2x accelerated learning through adaptive technology, and demonstrate competency in practical life skills.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any field
• 3 years of direct experience working with high school students (ages 13-18)
• Willing to work on-site in Brownsville, TX (relocation support provided)
• Legal authorization to work in the US
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or youth program facilitator who has inspired teenagers in non-traditional classroom settings
• Demonstrated success guiding groups to quantifiable outcomes (completion metrics, performance standards, behavioral improvements)
• Familiarity with adaptive learning systems or educational technology platforms
• Ability to tell compelling stories that capture and hold teenage attention, delivered with cultural sensitivity and authenticity

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
