This position anchors that relationship. You will be the individual families turn to when something feels uncertain, when clarity is required, or when they wish to discuss something significant. Not as a transactional function—but because you have established credibility. Your involvement will define how families experience their child's education across one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is developing a fundamentally different school model. Students finish their core academic work in two hours per day through AI-powered systems, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and practical execution. No traditional lectures. No redundant assignments. Results that place students in the top 1% nationally. Our families are discerning, highly informed, and often cautious. They value rigorous thinking over rehearsed messaging.

You will lead that dialogue over the long term. Not only during enrollment, but across the full lifecycle. You will communicate fluently about AI—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its relevance—particularly with families who lead companies, fund ventures, or demand precision in every interaction. If you are unable to engage at that depth, the role will feel challenging. If you can, it becomes one of the most intellectually stimulating positions in education.

This is not relationship management in the traditional sense. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who value discretion, sound reasoning, and reliability. What You Will Be Doing

• Take ownership of the complete relationship with each family on campus, cultivating trust that strengthens over time
• Identify and address concerns proactively with discretion, responsiveness, and thoughtful judgment
• Ensure consistent visibility during critical touchpoints: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and intentionally designed parent gatherings
• Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-centered model with analytical, technology-literate families
• Create and continuously improve community programming that fosters connection, support, and organic advocacy

• Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your work starts once families have enrolled
• Operating primarily through email or from behind a desk—this role demands in-person presence
• Relying on prepared scripts or avoiding substantive questions about AI or education philosophy
• Depending on established processes—you will create systems where none currently exist
• Viewing families as transactional accounts—success here depends on judgment, not checklist execution
  
  

Director Of Family Relations Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing long-term retention, active advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-driven educational approach.

Basic Requirements

• Located in or able to commute daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
• 5 years of direct experience working with UHNW individuals or families in settings such as private schools, private equity, family offices, or premium client service roles
• Demonstrated capability to manage complex, high-stakes relationships with discretion and thoughtful judgment
• Daily, active use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the ability to articulate AI functionality, risks, and boundaries clearly
• Commanding presence and communication approach that builds credibility with highly educated, high-expectation audiences
• Professional or personal familiarity with private or independent school environments
• Willingness to be available for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend programming

• Pre-existing connections within local private school or UHNW networks
• Professional background working with founders, investors, or technology executives
• Proven record of designing community experiences or programming that generates organic referrals
• Prior work in early-stage or fast-growth settings characterized by high ambiguity

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
