Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to design, develop, and deliver engaging learning solutions across instructor-led and digital formats. The ideal candidate will apply learning theories (Blooms Taxonomy), instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and user-centered design to create measurable, accessible, and scalable training. You will partner with subject matter experts, project managers, and stakeholders to analyze learning needs, design curricula and assessments, produce eLearning and blended learning courses, manage LMS delivery, and evaluate impact using formative and summative methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct learning needs analysis and stakeholder interviews to define performance problems, learning goals, and success metrics.
- Develop clear, measurable learning objectives using Blooms Taxonomy and align assessment strategies to objectives.
- Design and storyboard instructor-led, virtual, blended, and microlearning experiences using ADDIE and SAM frameworks.
- Create assessments, rubrics, and feedback mechanisms for formative and summative evaluation, including Kirkpatrick-level measurement plans.
- Author interactive eLearning using Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, or equivalent tools; produce SCORM/xAPI/AICC-compliant packages.
- Develop branching scenarios, gamified elements, and simulations to support scenario-based learning and higher-order skills practice.
- Produce and edit multimedia assets (video, audio, screen recordings) using Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), Audacity, and other tools.
- Implement responsive/mobile-first course design and basic HTML5/CSS adjustments for custom interactions.
- Manage course deployment and administration across LMS platforms (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, Docebo, Cornerstone, SAP Litmos) and integrate with LRS for xAPI tracking.
- Analyze learner data and learning analytics to iterate on design and demonstrate learning impact; maintain learning records and reporting.
- Ensure courses meet accessibility standards (WCAG / Section 508) and coordinate localization/translation workflows.
- Maintain project documentation, version control (GIT), and coordinate tasks using project management tools (JIRA, Trello, Asana); support QA and user acceptance testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning & Development, Instructional Systems, or related field; Masters preferred.
- 3 years of professional instructional design experience creating eLearning and blended curricula for corporate or academic environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) and Blooms Taxonomy for writing learning objectives and assessments.
- Hands-on experience with eLearning authoring tools: Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, and/or Lectora; familiarity with rapid eLearning development.
- Proven experience producing multimedia: video editing (Premiere/Camtasia), audio editing (Audacity), and graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Working knowledge of standards and technologies: SCORM, xAPI/Tin Can API, AICC, Learning Record Store (LRS), and basic HTML5/CSS.
- Experience administering and deploying content on LMS platforms (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, Docebo, Cornerstone, SAP Litmos).
- Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG / Section 508) and experience designing compliant learning materials.
- Experience with learning analytics, Kirkpatrick evaluation, formative & summative evaluation methods, and iterative improvement.
- Familiarity with gamification, scenario-based learning, branching simulations, microlearning, and UX/usability best practices.
- Comfortable using project management and version control tools (JIRA, Trello, Asana, GIT) and collaborating in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a portfolio or samples demonstrating instructional design work and produced courses.
