US PAYROLL TAX SPECIALIST
Location: Fishers, IN | Hybrid
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced US Payroll Tax Specialist to join our payroll and financial operations team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll tax processes across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
What You'll Do
Manage the end-to-end US payroll tax process, including quarterly and annual tax filings.
Prepare, review, and reconcile payroll tax returns and deposits.
Research and resolve IRS, state, and local tax notices and inquiries.
Manage penalty abatements, tax credits, and agency correspondence.
Register new tax accounts and ensure proper setup of federal, state, and local withholding requirements.
Support the preparation and filing of W-2, W-2C, and 1042-S forms.
Reconcile payroll registers, tax deposits, liabilities, and expenses to ensure accuracy.
Partner with HRIS and Payroll teams to test and implement tax updates and system changes.
Conduct parallel payroll testing to validate tax calculations and system configurations.
Ensure payroll tax liabilities and expenses are accurately reflected in the General Ledger.
Serve as a key contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation and supporting information.
Monitor changes to federal, state, and local tax regulations and recommend system or process updates.
What You Bring
5 years of professional payroll tax experience.
Strong Knowledge Of
Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate's degree with relevant experience.
Internal Revenue Code
Federal payroll taxation
State unemployment insurance (SUI)
State and local withholding taxes
Reciprocal tax agreements
