What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copywriter position at Contractor Growth Network?
About CGN
Contractor Growth Network is a digital marketing agency for high-end residential remodeling and design-build contractors. We build websites, run SEO, and create content that helps serious contractors win better clients. We're a 15-person team, and the work we produce gets measured.
The role
We're hiring a full-time Copywriter to own the words behind our clients' websites. You'll be the primary writer on new site builds — service pages, featured project pages, and any additional pages in a client's scope — and you'll support our SEO team with blogs and ongoing featured project pages for recurring clients.
We build copy on the StoryBrand framework. The homeowner is the hero. The contractor is the guide. Every page should make the right customer feel understood, not sold to. If you know how to write that way — and can carry a distinct brand voice consistently across every page of a site — this role is for you.
You'll report to our Website Manager and work closely with the SEO department. Your work ships, gets published, and gets measured.
What you'll own
- All website copy for new builds: service pages, featured project pages, and scoped additional pages
- Photo and imagery selection to complement and reinforce the copy on each page
- Blog writing in support of the SEO department — reader-first, genuinely helpful content written for real homeowners
- Ongoing featured project pages for active clients
- Ad copy and landing page edits, keeping messaging clear and on-brand
What we're looking for
3–5 years of professional copywriting experience. You can work independently with light oversight, manage multiple clients and deadlines, and keep brand voice consistent across everything you touch.
Strong candidates will bring:
- StoryBrand fluency — you write customer-centered copy that frames the homeowner as the hero without leaning on salesy or gimmicky language
- Reader-first instincts — your content is genuinely useful to a real audience; SEO supports the writing, it doesn't drive it
- An eye for visuals — you can select photography and imagery that strengthens the story on the page
- AI and workflow fluency — you're comfortable using AI writing tools inside a structured process to work efficiently without sacrificing quality
Direct experience in home services, remodeling, or contractor marketing is strongly preferred. Exceptional generalists with a relevant body of published work will be considered.
How to apply
Submit your resume, a portfolio of published work, and the writing sample that best shows your range. We want to see web or service-page copy. Work in the home services or remodeling space is a plus.
