What are the responsibilities and job description for the Search Engine Optimization Specialist position at Contractor Growth Network?
About CGN
Contractor Growth Network is a digital marketing agency for high-end residential remodeling and design-build contractors. We build search strategies around qualified demand — the kind that fills a contractor's pipeline with the right clients, not just more traffic. We're a 15-person team, and the work gets measured.
The role
We're hiring an SEO Specialist to manage and optimize search performance across a portfolio of contractor clients. You'll handle the full scope of SEO work — technical audits, on-page optimization, keyword research, content recommendations, and reporting — and you'll do it inside a team that takes this work seriously.
This isn't a generalist marketing role with SEO tacked on. It's a dedicated specialist position for someone who understands how search actually works and wants to get better at it.
What you'll do
- Track and analyze organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversion data to guide strategy and measure results
- Conduct on-page audits and optimize client sites across technical and content elements
- Troubleshoot site speed, crawlability, indexation, and overall site health
- Analyze keyword performance and recommend content updates or new topics to improve search visibility
- Build clear, client-friendly reports that explain what's working and what's next
- Keep all client accounts accurately maintained and SEO deliverables properly archived
What we're looking for
2 years of hands-on SEO experience — technical, on-page, keyword research, and analytics. You work well independently, manage multiple accounts without dropping details, and can translate complex data into clear action steps.
Strong candidates will bring:
- Solid technical SEO fundamentals — you can diagnose crawl issues, indexation problems, and site health without a checklist
- Fluency with the tools: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, BrightLocal, and Screaming Frog
- A data-first approach — you look at what the numbers are actually saying before making a recommendation
- Clear communication — your reports make sense to a contractor owner who doesn't speak SEO
