The role is a Full Time Occupational Therapist based east of Gallup, NM, responsible for evaluating patients and developing individualized treatment plans to improve functional independence. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and maintains accurate documentation in EMR systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities through observation and standardized assessments.
Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans to improve functional skills and independence.
Provide therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living, mobility, and adaptive techniques.
Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients in proper use.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies for daily living and long-term recovery.
Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and progress reports in EMR systems.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
Participate in professional development through continuing education, workshops, and in-service training.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support patient care and department operations.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program
Completion of Level I and Level II supervised fieldwork
Successful completion of the NBCOT exam to obtain OTR credential
Active or eligible for New Mexico Occupational Therapy license through the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department
Current BLS/CPR Certification
Completion of required continuing education for annual license renewal
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Compassionate and patient-focused mindset
Strong organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of human anatomy, psychology, and occupational therapy treatment techniques
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Preferred Skills:
Two years of acute care experience in higher-acuity units such as ICU, trauma, or neurology
