Assistant Controller / Controller
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Onsite)
About the Opportunity
A global organization is seeking an Assistant Controller / Controller to join its finance leadership team. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with senior finance leadership and play a key role in strengthening accounting operations, enhancing financial controls, and supporting ongoing business transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, operational finance experience, and leadership capabilities within a complex, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal control requirements
- Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities as needed
- Manage and mentor accounting team members while helping develop a high-performance finance organization
- Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit activities
- Assist with implementation of process improvements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation projects
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, FP&A, tax, and treasury
- Support integration, restructuring, and organizational change initiatives as the business continues to evolve
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA strongly preferred
- 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Prior experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar leadership role
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience operating within a multi-entity, manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, energy, or asset-intensive environment preferred
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Strong systems aptitude and experience working with different ERP platforms
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving organization
Preferred Experience
- Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)
- Cost accounting exposure
- Global finance operations experience
