The Division of State Risk and Insurance Services provides and procures cost effective insurance for state owned property, vehicles, mobile equipment, and liability risk exposures. Additionally, this division provides state-wide risk management services and procures Public Official Bonds, Commercial Liability, Sickness/Accident insurance policies, Aviation policies and various liability policies to state agencies, universities, and Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems. The division also provides underwriting, appraisal, and fire suppression annual inspection services for state owned structures and utilizes a third- party claims adjuster to assist in processing claims faster.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For
- Provides technical assistance in the interpretation of property policies and claim procedures. Receive, coordinate, and analyze all property claims submitted to the Commonwealth’s Property & Casualty Insurance Fund and maintain quality customer service communication with State Agencies/Universities and our Division Claims Program Manager.
- Conducts reviews and studies of operational policies and procedures for defining property claim service effectiveness. Provides professional support and assistance to the Claims Manager and all State Agencies regarding property claims process and training. Enter claim data in risk management information system, set up a claim file and notify State Agency of claim number.
- Maintains a diary system for updates and request final invoices for claims not assigned to the contract Claims Adjuster.
- Analyzes federal and state laws and regulations (KAR & KRS) to determine the impact on agency programs. Reviews, analyzes and interprets the Commonwealth’s Property & Casualty Insurance Fund policy coverage in relation to each claim submitted; and documents in writing all communications for each property claim until it is closed. Comply with archiving requirements.
- Writes and recommends operational property claim procedures manuals. Completes a property claim worksheet to document recommended settlement amount to be reviewed by Claims Manager. Prepares Proof of Loss documents and after final approval, close in risk management information system and file the claim file.
- Further communication with claimants may include requesting additional information or documentation as required. Once the claim has been adjudicated you will be responsible for documenting the settlement, determination, and any payment in the risk management software system.
