Description

The Department of Insurance, Division of Insurance Fraud Investigation’s mission is to protect the Commonwealth through conducting fair and impartial criminal investigations, and other related activities for the purpose of deterring insurance fraud. Insurance fraud harms the public through the increase of premiums paid for insurance coverage. By statute, it is a criminal act to engage in insurance fraud and criminal penalties are an important element in the prevention and/or deterrence of such crimes.

We are looking for a Procedures Development Specialist II to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As a Procedures Development Specialist II, you will provide expert assistance in the analysis of federal and state laws and regulations to determine the impact on agency programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provides expert assistance in the analysis of federal and state laws and regulations to determine the impact on the Department of Insurance Fraud Investigation (DIFI) administrative reporting program.
Conducts reviews and studies, and provides technical instruction to staff on administrative processes related to Insurance Fraud Investigations to determine program effectiveness.
Determines program implications, options available and fiscal impact on specific programs within the branch specifically as it relates to federal/state laws and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Writes, recommends and updates information for DIFI Policy and procedure manual, research databases for program efficiency and effectiveness. Continually updates and maintains statistical information regarding Insurance Fraud Investigations and provides reports to the Director.
Provides technical assistance in the interpretation of DIFI's administrative reporting program. Develops written directives for administrative processes, which include Criminal Investigations. Corresponds with the Director and staff regarding administrative processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
