About Us

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is the state’s largest provider of higher education, serving nearly 125,000 students annually across 13 colleges and 35 locations. We are dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening Colorado’s economy through accessible, high-quality education and training.

The Opportunity

CCCS is seeking an Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Strategy Officer (EVC) — a dynamic, visionary leader to guide system operations and drive our strategic direction. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, and overseeing the Institutional Research and Business Intelligence group, this position serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and alignment of our academic, business, and student success initiatives across the state.

Why Join CCCS?

At CCCS, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking system that values innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. This is an opportunity to influence the future of higher education in Colorado and make a meaningful difference for students, communities, and employers statewide.

Examples of Duties

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the System Office, fostering collaboration and innovation across all divisions.
  • Serve as a trusted partner and thought leader to the Chancellor — coordinating priorities, facilitating executive initiatives, and ensuring timely execution on key goals.
  • Lead the development, monitoring, and advancement of CCCS’s strategic plan and top systemwide initiatives.
  • Guide senior leaders and presidents toward a shared vision of excellence, efficiency, and student success.
  • Represent CCCS with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the system’s mission, values, and impact across Colorado.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. A bachelor’s degree and two additional years of related experience may substitute for the master’s degree.
  • At least five years of senior leadership experience, preferably within a complex higher education or public-sector organization.
  • A track record of success leading large-scale strategic or organizational change initiatives.

Supplemental Information

Attributes That Will Contribute To Success In This Position

  • Proven ability to foster cross-functional collaboration, develop high-performing teams, and drive measurable outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Integrity
  • Political acumen
  • Project management skills
  • Strategic insight
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • A passion for advancing educational opportunity for all

Work/Travel Requirements

  • The office for this position is located at 9101 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230.
  • Regular travel, typically in-state, to on- and off-site meetings, will be required.
  • Alternative Work Arrangements, including flexible schedules and hybrid-remote work, may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.

CCCS believes when all human qualities are regarded with dignity and respect and when everyone has access to the individualized support they need, all will have the opportunity to thrive. In all aspects of the employment process, decisions are made based on merit, competence, performance and business need without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, creed, ancestry, national origin, marital status, genetic information, military status, or any other protected status in accordance with applicable law.

Note: per the Colorado Job Application Fairness Act, an applicant may redact information from their resume, cover letter, and/or transcripts that identifies their age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution. If your position requires us to review an official transcript, without redacting, we will request one as part of our conditional offer process. In order to evaluate work experience against established requirements for positions, we are still requesting dates of service (month and year) for positions in the applicant’s work history.

A career at the Colorado Community College System's administrative office comes with great perks. Whether you are responsible for strategic System leadership or provide high quality administrative and technical support, you will reap a rewarding experience being a part of an enterprise which assists thousands of students to elevate their lives each year. Our System Office culture emphasizes and celebrates professionalism in performance of jobs and diversity in our workforce. Our focus on outcomes rather than tasks is supported with flexible work arrangements, and the expectation that our employees perform best when they are engaged and enjoy a degree of autonomy in how they approach the delivery of quality work product.
