Compensation: $37–$43/hr Shift Differential Eligibility

Schedule: Full-time | May include 24/7 rotating shifts and weekend assignments

Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

What You'll Do

  • Provide radiological and operational health physics support across LANL facilities and high-hazard areas
  • Conduct workplace surveillance, interpret radiological data, and ensure compliance with 10CFR835 and radiation protection procedures
  • Review and support radiation work permits (RWPs), posting compliance, and facility design input
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians in contamination control, exposure management, and procedural compliance
  • Respond to radiological emergencies and coordinate re-entry strategies with health physicists
  • Supervise other technicians during field assignments as needed
  • Perform work in PPE as required; work may be outdoors and outside regular business hours

What We're Looking For

Required

  • S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Minimum 3 years of RCT experience in a DOE, nuclear, or equivalent regulated environment
  • Strong working knowledge of 10CFR835, radiation work permits, and ALARA principles
  • Experience with radiological surveys, instrumentation, and contamination control
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends

Preferred

  • Current or prior LANL, NNSA, or DOE national laboratory experience
  • Navy nuclear or military HP technician background
  • Active DOE Core Card and/or NRRPT certification
  • Experience with radiological emergency response
  • Prior supervisory or mentoring experience

Schedule & Compensation

Pay Rate: $37–$43/hr depending on experience

Shift Differential: Additional pay available for qualifying shift assignments

Schedule: 24/7 rotating coverage - may include nights, weekends, and non-standard hours

Mandatory Requirements - Read Before Applying

  • S. Citizenship required - ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance is mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years of RCT or radiological control experience in a nuclear or DOE facility - candidates below this threshold will not be considered
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
  • Must be physically able to work in demanding environments: lift and carry RP equipment, wear full PPE including respirators, work at heights
