We are seeking a Project Engineer 2 to join the Plutonium Infrastructure Engineering Division (PIE-DO) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, supporting active installation efforts at the nation's most critical nuclear infrastructure facility - TA-55.
In this role, you will serve as a technical lead across the full project lifecycle - from planning and design through field execution and closeout - in a mission-critical, high-consequence environment. Your work will directly enable national security and nuclear modernization by supporting construction and engineering activities on some of the nation's most sensitive infrastructure.

Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $60/hr - $65/hr
- Schedule: 4/10 preferred; flexible with day, night, and weekend shifts as mission requires
- Location: 100% Onsite - TA-55, Los Alamos, NM (installation phase)

- Serve as technical lead across planning, design, field execution, and project closeout
- Manage design change processes, including coordination with internal and external teams
- Provide technical support for construction teams during installation and commissioning
- Facilitate stakeholder communication, including Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and subject matter experts
- Ensure compliance with LANL's Conduct of Engineering and NQA-1 quality assurance standards
- Review technical documentation and submittals for compliance with applicable engineering codes and standards
- Interface with cross-functional teams across engineering, construction, and operations disciplines
- U.S. Citizenship (required - no exceptions)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance (preferred at time of hire)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum 3 years of engineering or project engineering experience
- Working knowledge of engineering contracts and construction interfaces
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (NEC, IBC, ASME, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-team collaboration
- Experience in technical documentation and submittal review
- Proficiency in MS Office and Teams; willingness to learn LANL-specific tools
- Willingness and ability to work 100% onsite at TA-55 in Los Alamos, NM
- Availability for flexible scheduling including potential day, night, and weekend shifts
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Familiarity with DOE orders, particularly DOE O 413.3B
- Experience with glovebox systems or other high-hazard containment equipment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design tools
- Prior experience in regulated environments (DOE, DoD, pharmaceutical, oil & gas)
- Advanced degree or professional certification
