What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for planning, coordination, and resolution of conflicting radiological control demands in high-hazard, dynamic environments
- Act as authorized subject matter expert (SME) for radiological work control packages (RWCPs) - including high-hazard radiological work
- Independently develop solutions to complex radiological problems, escalating only when scope demands it
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to RCT 1–3 level technicians, setting the standard for safety and compliance
- Coordinate work area resources across teams to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Interface directly with health physicists, engineers, and facility management on radiological matters
- Anticipate problems before they arise and handle unforeseen radiological issues without appreciable direction
- Perform work in PPE including respiratory protection; work may be outdoors and outside regular hours
Required
- S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- 5 years of RCT experience in a DOE, nuclear, or equivalent regulated facility
- Expert-level knowledge of 10CFR835, radiation work permits, and ALARA implementation
- Demonstrated track record of independent technical decision-making in high-hazard environments
- Experience developing or reviewing radiological work control packages (RWCPs)
- Availability for 24/7 rotating shifts including nights and weekends
- Active DOE Core Card and/or NRRPT (National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists) certification
- Prior LANL, NNSA, or DOE national laboratory experience
- Experience in Hazard Category 2 nuclear facilities or plutonium environments
- History of mentoring or supervising junior RCT personnel
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or completion of advanced HP training

- S. Citizenship required - ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance is mandatory
- Minimum 5 years of RCT experience in a nuclear or DOE-regulated facility - candidates below this threshold will not be considered
- Must meet DOE Order 426.2 personnel qualification requirements
- Must be physically able to work in demanding environments: lift 50 lbs, wear full PPE including respirators, work at heights and in confined spaces
