Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Program Coordinator provides coordination and operational support for assigned recreation programs and community events.
This position assists with the implementation, delivery, and evaluation of recreation programs, including youth & family, teen, older adult/senior, adaptive recreation, adult athletics, and/or special events, as assigned. The Recreation Coordinator supports daily program operations, participant engagement, daily direction of seasonal staff, and administrative processes to ensure high-quality service delivery consistent with departmental standards and community needs. This position will also provide administrative, facility and building support.
Hiring Range: $35.76 - $46.48 per hour

- Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing assigned recreation programs and special events.
- Serve as a back-up for administrative tasks that support the divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Coordinate program logistics including facility scheduling, equipment, supplies, instructors, contracts and participant communication.
- Prepare program materials including class rosters, attendance sheets, waivers, emergency procedures, and instructional packets.
- Provide on-site support during programs to ensure quality service delivery and adherence to established procedures.
- Regularly observe programs and provide feedback to instructors and seasonal staff.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for program participants, instructors, volunteers, and the public.
- Respond to participant inquiries and resolve routine concerns; escalate complex issues to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Promote recreation programs through outreach, community engagement, and direct communication with participants and stakeholders.
- Support partnerships with community groups and organizations related to assigned program areas.
- Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating work for seasonal/part-time staff, instructors, and volunteers as directed.
- Assist with onboarding and training of seasonal staff in program procedures, safety standards, and customer service expectations.
- Provide day-to-day direction to staff, contractors and volunteers during program operations.
- Assist with payroll procedures and processing for seasonal staff.
- Enter and maintain accurate program information in RecTrac and related registration systems.
- Process registrations, payments, refunds, and transfers in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain accurate program records including registrations, waivers, attendance, incident reports, and supply inventories.
- Assist with tracking program participation and basic financial performance data.
- Support the Recreation Supervisor in gathering information for program evaluations and reports.
- Assist with development of program descriptions for brochures, digital content, flyers, and social media.
- Ensure program information is accurate and updated in marketing materials and registration systems.
- Support outreach efforts to increase participation and community awareness.
- Assist with ordering and maintaining program supplies and equipment.
- Ensure program areas are safe, clean, and properly prepared for activities.
- Respond to incidents and complete required documentation.
- Serve on committees or work groups as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year full-time experience coordinating recreation programs, facility rentals, or similar services in a municipal, community, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license or have the ability to obtain prior to employment and have the ability to drive.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Recreation Management, Public Administration, Education, or related field.
- Two (2) years’ experience (full or part-time) coordinating recreation programs, facility rentals, or similar services in a lead role, for a municipal, community, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of RecTrac registration software
- Experience supervising seasonal/part-time staff
- Experience developing recreation programs in a community/municipal setting
