Seasonal Parks & Rec - Lifeguard - Camp Carver

The Camp Carver Lifeguard will supervise Camp Carver beach/water activity, ensure a safe environment is maintained and to act promptly and knowledgeably in the event of an emergency.

Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
June 8 - August 14

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

• The lifeguard will be responsible for:
• Surveillance of water and campers/staff while on duty.
• Writing down suggestions and giving them to their supervisor.
• Making sure users know and follow beach regulations and rules for proper and safe use of the beach.
• Providing lifesaving skills to users in need.
• Keeping beach and water clear of obstructions.
• Reporting any problems to administration in a timely manner.
• Arriving to schedule shifts, prepared and ready for campers at least 15 minutes early.
• Filling out an accident report even for minor incidences and injuries.
• Recording, signing and handing-in time cards on or before due date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age of 16 years old.
• Current Lifeguard certification, water front certification and CPR/AED/First Aid or ability to obtain prior to the start of camp. If certification or re-certification is needed, the City will cover the expense. 
• Administrative:  able to keep accurate and detailed records of participation levels and to submit completed time sheets each pay period.
• Interpersonal skills: able to demonstrate tact and friendliness in communicating with a variety of personalities and situations.
• Ability to train Camp Carver Staff on appropriate beach safety, missing persons search and emergency response procedures as they relate to the camps beach/water activities.
• Comfortable being the only Lifeguard on duty
• Ability to provide direction to Camp Carver staff while at the beach.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Lifeguard experience
• Beach/water front lifeguarding experience
• Experience working with children ages 6-12 years of age
• Water Safety/Swim Instructor certification
• Ambassador for Water Safety certification
